Volunteers

Make this the year you make a difference by Volunteering to help someone who is not as fortunate as yourself. Fife Society for the Blind rely on the good will of people who have some time on their hands to have a go at any number of volunteering opportunities.

As we get into Spring, you might discover with the longer days that you have some spare time on your hands. You could be retired, unemployed, on benefits or have a skill you want to share with others. Why not share that skill or passion with people who have a sight loss . At Fife Society for the Blind we need people to do a whole host of things, covering all areas in Fife. For example – Volunteer Befrienders to visit blind and partially sighted people in their own homes for a chat or take them for a coffee, a run in the car, anything that will help break the monotony of the day and alleviate some of the loneliness and isolation they feel.

In Volunteering with Fife Society for the Blind you will become part of a well established community project with a ‘bank’ of loyal and committed volunteers enabling blind and partially sighted people to participate in a range of social and recreational activities.

Training, support and out of pocket expenses including a mileage allowance are provided. Go on…..klick here to find out more.  Help us create a fairer and more socially inclusive society. You won’t regret it!

BENEFITS AND VOLUNTEERING - MYTH BUSTING

If you would like to become a volunteer but are held back by concerns that this will affect your rights to benefits whilst unemployed, fear no longer!

The guidance given by the Government states that:
"You are free to volunteer while you are receiving benefits as long as the work you do is unpaid, and you meet the rules of your benefit. Always check with your benefits adviser before you start volunteering."
